About the instructors:
Chuck Devine is a furniture maker and carver with certificates in Furniture Making and Architectural Millwork & Cabinetmaking from Palomar Community College, San Marcos, CA. He has broad experience with a multitude of hand and power tools, and teaches on topics ranging from setting up a shop, to solving project problems, to advanced designs. Chuck was Factory 3’s first class instructor in 2019, and previously taught woodworking for Central Oregon Community College from 2007 to 2015, at Open Bench Project, and privately.
Eric Dunder inherited the heart of an artist and the mind of an engineer, and finds woodworking the perfect outlet for his ambitions. He has worked as a cabinetmaker for M.R. Brewer Fine Woodworking in Portland since 2018, after completing the highly selective Furniture Comprehensive Program at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport. A native of Oregon, Eric previously studied commercial aviation, photography, and environmental studies. His cabinetry has appeared in articles in Décor Maine and Maine Homes by Down East.
Paloma Díaz-Dickson (wood turning lessons) is a Portland-based illustrator, artist, and woodworker. She was born in Houston, TX, and grew up in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, in a home where play, work, and making things were inextricably and happily linked together. Her educational background is in illustration, but she decided to dive into woodworking as part of her MFA thesis project and has never looked back. Moving away from digital and 2D illustration, her work has become more three-dimensional and she enjoys straddling the line between fine arts, craft, and design. Plainly put, she just likes making objects and is at the moment focusing on hand turned wooden objects.
