Basket Making: Woven Bear Ornament in Portland, Maine

Length: 3 hours
Class Fee: $65

This woven bear ornament is a charming gift for the holidays. It might be too cute to give away, though! In this 3-hour class, you will weave it with sustainably harvested birch bark, but it can also be made with a decorative heavy-weight paper. You can take home the pattern, so you can make as many as you like at home.

About the instructor:
Making things out of fibers has been Kimberley Harding’s passion since she was a child. Until being introduced to basketry by Jackie Abrams and Lois Russell in 2015 and 2016, she primarily worked with textile materials. She joined the Northeast Basketmakers Guild in 2016 and has increased her basketry knowledge from the many wonderful teachers at the annual Gathering, as well as at other basketry events. Now as a sculptural artist she works with a wide variety of materials, though rooted in textile and basketry techniques. She has shown her work throughout the US and recently had a solo show at Maine Audubon in Falmouth. She resides in Portland.
